Saturday is our monthly soup and sandwich luncheon, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to this free lunch! 

This Sunday is the final day to order Easter flowers. Order forms are available at the round table in the sanctuary. 

The Men’s Breakfast will be held on Saturday, March 30th at 8 a.m. at Cracker Barrel. Men of any age are welcome.

  • March 24 Palm Sunday – Services at 8:15 a.m. & 10:45 a.m. Kids Easter Egg Hunt following the 10:45 service
  • March 28 Maundy Thursday – Service 7:00 p.m.
  • March 29 Good Friday – Vigil with Pastor Brian here at 2nd Ave 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., service 7:00 p.m. at Warrior’s Mark GMC, 24 Hour Prayer Vigil begins 7:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m. are at home prayer times, 9:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Saturday, the  building will be available for prayer)
  • March 31 Easter Sunday – 7:00 a.m. Sunrise Service, 8:15 a.m. breakfast (please sign up), 9:30 a.m. combined service.

Easter Sunday Breakfast

On Easter Sunday, between services, we will host our annual fellowship breakfast here at the church. Everyone is welcome to join us from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. Our kitchen crew has requested that we get a count so that they know how many to prepare for.

Please sign up at the round table in the sanctuary, or let Jill know if you won’t be here by Easter so I can sign you up.

(Reminder: Easter services are at 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.)

Thank you again to everyone who attended and donated to our Rise Against Hunger meal packing event on Saturday. We packed over 20,000 meals in under two hours. If you missed the WTAJ segment, watch it here: WTAJ Rise Against Hunger.  

This Saturday, March 16, is our monthly free luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Easter flower orders are due by next Sunday, March 17, at the latest. Flowers will be available to take home on Easter Sunday.

It’s hard to believe we’re more than halfway through our Lenten journey. We hope you can join us for Holy Week and Easter. Our schedule is below; please contact us if you have any questions.

March 24 – Palm Sunday: services at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m., with an egg hunt for children 12 and under following the 10:45 service.

March 28 – Maundy Thursday: service at 7:00 p.m.

March 29 – Good Friday: vigil with Pastor Brian 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., service at 7:00 p.m. at Warrior’s Mark GMC

March 29- March 30 Prayer Vigil here at 2nd Ave, 7:00 p.m. Good Friday – 9:00 a.m. Holy Saturday at home prayer times, the building will be available for prayer from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Holy Saturday, please sign up. Instructions on entering the building on Holy Saturday will be given to those who are coming to the church to pray.

March 31 – Easter Sunday: Sunrise service 7:00 a.m., fellowship breakfast 8:15 a.m. (please sign up), Combined worship 9:30 a.m.

Join us on Sunday to continue our Lenten series “Jesus Set Out” with this week’s message. Don’t turn down the invitation. Services at 8:15 & 10:45 AM. (Staffed nursery and Junior Church during the 10:45 service.)

If you’d like to order an Easter flower, please pick up a form at the round table in the sanctuary. Orders with payment are due by next Sunday, March 17, at the latest. Following the Easter services, flowers will be available to take home.

The sign-up sheet for the 24 Hour Prayer Vigil is located on the round table in the sanctuary. Please sign up for an hour time slot so that we can pray for 24 hours, from 7:00 p.m. Good Friday to 7:00 p.m. Holy Saturday.

Weekly Announcements

This Saturday, March 9, is our Rise Against Hunger meal packing event. Everyone of all ages is welcome to experience what it’s like to pack 20,000 meals to help end global hunger. Our event begins at 10 a.m.; please arrive by 9:40 a.m. for instructions, etc. Register here to join us while space is still available!

We will hold a 24-hour prayer vigil from 7:00 p.m. Good Friday to 7:00 p.m. Holy Saturday. 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m. are home time slots; the building will be open for prayer from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (Instructions on where to enter will be provided to those who signed up for these slots).

Easter flower orders are being accepted until March 17. Flowers will be available for you to take home after the Easter Sunday services.

Easter Sunday services will be held at 7:00 a.m.and 9:30 a.m. The fellowship breakfast will begin at 8:15 a.m. in the social hall.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Youth Group by eating at the fish dinners. The Youth will still have dinners on March 8, 15, and 22. Meals are served from 4:00 p.m.to 6:30 p.m. The dinners are available for dine-in or takeout.

Join us this Sunday for Holy Communion and our message, “Jesus Sets Out: The Power of Prayer.” Services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

Tonight’s Lenten Fish Dinner buffet is from 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Come out and support the Youth Group while having a delicious meal! Takeout is also available; call ahead starting at 3:30 p.m. at 814-943-2072.

The Youth Group is now selling Gardner’s Peanut Butter Meltaways for $1 and Chocolate Covered Pretzels for $2 between services on Sundays. If you’d like to sell a box at your place of business, please contact Ashley or Nic Harclerode.

On Palm Sunday, March 24, 2nd Ave Kids will have their annual Easter Egg Hunt. Children 12 and under are welcome (a parent or guardian must remain and attend with them).–lunch will be provided in the social hall after the 10:45 service, followed by the egg hunt. Join us tomorrow to begin our Lenten sermon series, “Jesus Sets Out.” This week’s message is “The Unlikely Hero” from Luke 10:25–37. Services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

Sign up for the 24 Hour Prayer Vigil at the roundtable in the sanctuary. We will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Good Friday and end at 7:00 p.m. on Holy Saturday. The 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m. times are at home; however, the church will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. if you wish to pray there.

Flower orders for Easter Sunday are now being accepted. Forms are available at the round table and must be completed and paid for by March 17.

Blair Senior Services’ Advanced Tai Chi program will begin on Wednesday, March 20. It will run from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. There is a beginner’s class available at another location; if you want more information, please contact Jill.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered at the Food Pantry this past Friday. We would also like to thank those who donated to the Food Pantry.

Beginning this Sunday, the Youth Group will sell Gardners peanut butter meltaways ($1 each) and chocolate-covered pretzels ($2) between services. 

The church office will be closed on Monday to observe Presidents’ Day. We will open on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.

Weekly Announcements

Valentine’s candy will be available for pickup during office hours on Wednesday (8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) or after the evening Ash Wednesday service. Items will be in the kitchen.

Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the start of our Lenten journey. There will be an ashes and communion service in the sanctuary from 8:45 a.m. – 9:20 a.m.. Our evening Ash Wednesday service will be held after The ROCK (beginning around 7:10 p.m.) with music, ashes and communion, and a brief message. The ROCK will dismiss on 2nd Street, so please enter on the 2nd Ave side of the building for the evening service.

Fish Dinners begin this Friday, February 16, and will continue through Lent (except Good Friday). The all-you-can-eat buffet will be served from 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. If you plan on volunteering, please arrive between 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

If you’d like to receive phone call announcements and reminders (we’ll only make one or two calls per week via recording), please sign up in the sanctuary. If there is enough of a need/want, we will consider further.

Join us Sunday as we conclude the series “The Names of God” with this week’s sermon. The Omega and the Alpha. 

Wednesday marks the beginning of our Lenten journey. Ashes and communion will be available from 8:45 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. We will also have a service following the ROCK (around 7:10 p.m.), which will include ashes and Communion. For the evening service, please enter on the 2nd Ave side (glass door or sanctuary doors), as the ROCK will be dismissing on 2nd Street.

The first Fish Dinner of the season is only a week away! Dinner will be served every Friday during Lent (except Good Friday) from 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. The all-you-can-eat buffet costs $17 for adults, $14 for those 65 and older, and $12 for children under the age of ten. Single take-out meals are $14. 

Cakes are needed for desserts at the fish dinners; if you can donate one, please drop it off on Thursdays during office hours or Fridays beginning at 2:00 p.m.

If you want to volunteer at the Fish Dinners, please arrive between 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Fridays.

Sunday is SOUPer Bowl Sunday; please help us stock the shelves of the food pantry by donating canned soups and goods.
