The ROCK begins this week! September 13 at 4:30 PM, all kids aged 4 – 12^th grade are welcome. Kids will be served home-cooked meal, have games, arts & crafts, gym time, lessons and more! Please register your kids ahead of time by clicking here!

Youth Group will be held on Sundays from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm (unless otherwise noted). All kids from 6^th-12^th grade are welcome. Please contact Nic or Ashley Harclerode, or Pastor Brian, for more information.

Beginning September 18, the office will be open Monday – Thursday from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. Jill will be available by email Monday – Friday until 4:00 pm.

Hope Chest Fall/Winter pick up is next Sunday evening at 5:00 pm at the Jaffa. If you are able to help load clothing donations and bring them back to the church, please let Pastor Brian know. Our Hope Chest provides gently used clothing for any kids (no requirements–available to all) in need. 

Save the date! Sunday, November 19 we will have a combined service at 10:00 am with a potluck lunch and a Church Meeting & Review (this replaces Church Conference).

(Paper copies will be available at the church next Sunday as well) Please take some time to read over the newsletter and look at the calendar to see everything upcoming here in the next month. 

If you missed it, we had two wonderful services yesterday, celebrating our GMC membership, Blessing of the Backpacks and more. We had special music at each service and cake to celebrate this new chapter! Check out the service on YouTube or visit our Facebook page to see some pictures and videos from the day.

This Friday, August 25, is our monthly Food Pantry day. If you’d like to donate any non-perishable items, please do so this week during office hours Monday- Thursday 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. 

Do you play a musical instrument? We’d love to have you share your gifts as either special music at either of the services, or with the Praise Band. Please let Pastor Brian or Jill know.

We are looking for help counting the offering on Monday mornings. The current counters will train you until you are comfortable. There’s a rotating schedule, currently folks are counting one month at a time, every three months. The only requirement is you must be a church member.

Today is our monthly free luncheon from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm, the Hope Chest will be open for any families in need of free, gently used children’s clothing. 

This Saturday, August 19 is our monthly Soup & Sandwich Luncheon 11:30 am – 1:00 pm, all are welcome! Dine in or take out available. Free for all!

Sunday, August 20 we will have our Church Wide Celebration; we will celebrate membership vows for the Global Methodist Church, have our Blessing of the Backpacks, pray over teachers and school employees and more! 8:15/10:45 am, join us if you can!

Bible Study is back this Thursday at 10:00 am , here at the church. All are welcome.

We will have a church picnic on Saturday, September 9 at Highland Park. We will have the pavilion from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm, dinner will be at 4:30 pm. The church will provide the main dish, please sign up at the round table in the sanctuary so we know how many to expect. If you are able to bring a side dish or dessert, please notate that as well. 

The ROCK starts back up on Wednesday, September 13. The ROCK is held each Wednesday (when there is school) through May. All kids age 4 through 12th grade are invited from 4:30 pm -7:00 pm for a home-cooked meal, games, activities, age-appropriate lessons and more. Ashley is looking to add more volunteers this year to be able to have smaller groups. Last year they had the most kids registered and need help to keep running the program smoothly! **Don’t forget** Next Sunday, August 20 is our Church Wide Celebration! At both services church members will take GMC membership vows (all who were current members are already members, this is just symbolic), have our Blessing of the Backpacks, pray over school district employees, and more!

Counters needed! The finance team is looking to add several more counters to our Monday morning rotation. Counters currently count every third month (if we get more people, it could be less). You must be a church member and current counters will train you until you are comfortable. Please let us know if you are interested in this ministry.

Last year the ROCK had the most kids ever! They need more volunteers to continue being able to serve kids from age 4 through 12th grade. The Yard Sale that was scheduled for this Saturday here at the church, has been cancelled due to lack of interest. 

Pastor Brian will be away next Sunday, August 6. Communion will be held on August 13.

Sunday, August 20 is our Church Wide Celebration Day. We will celebrate taking membership vows in the GMC (if you were a member here already, you are automatically a member of 2nd Ave Global Methodist, this is just a ceremony to celebrate membership), as well as have our Blessing of the Backpacks, prayers over teachers and school employees and more! 

Have you joined us for a time of fellowship between services in the Gathering Place? Each Sunday there are snacks and beverages provided. Make sure to stop over and enjoy the company of your 2nd Ave family!

The Praise Band is looking for more folks to share their musical talents! Do you play piano? Drums? Another instrument? Sing? Want to use your talent to praise and participate in the worship songs on Sunday morning? Please reach out! We do ask you attend practice for several weeks to get a feel and that you attend church regularly. Contact the church office for more information.
