We will celebrate Holy Communion at both services this Sunday.

**Don’t forget** Next Sunday, August 20 is our Church Wide Celebration! At both services church members will take GMC membership vows (all who were current members are already members, this is just symbolic), have our Blessing of the Backpacks, pray over school district employees, and more!

Have you added our new app to your phone’s home screen? Counters needed! The finance team is looking to add several more counters to our Monday morning rotation. Counters currently count every third month (if we get more people, it could be less). You must be a church member and current counters will train you until you are comfortable. Please let us know if you are interested in this ministry. 

Saturday, September 9 will be our Church Picnic at Highland Park. Dinner will be served at 4:30 but we have our pavilion from 2-7 pm. The church will provide the main dish. We ask that each person/family sign up so we know how many to prepare for as well as sign up to bring a side dish or dessert if you are able. 

Just a reminder, Pastor Brian is on vacation this week. Please contact Jill during office hours or a member of church council/SPRC if you should have a pastoral emergency.

Communion will be held next Sunday August 13.

Thursday Bible Study will resume on August 17 at 10:00 am.

The ROCK will be back on September 13 to kick off the 2023-24 year. Registration forms are available on the ROCK Facebook page. Ashley is also looking for volunteers. Last year the ROCK had the most kids ever! They need more volunteers to continue being able to serve kids from age 4 through 12th grade. The Yard Sale that was scheduled for this Saturday here at the church, has been cancelled due to lack of interest. 

Pastor Brian will be away next Sunday, August 6. Communion will be held on August 13.

Sunday, August 20 is our Church Wide Celebration Day. We will celebrate taking membership vows in the GMC (if you were a member here already, you are automatically a member of 2nd Ave Global Methodist, this is just a ceremony to celebrate membership), as well as have our Blessing of the Backpacks, prayers over teachers and school employees and more! 

Have you joined us for a time of fellowship between services in the Gathering Place? Each Sunday there are snacks and beverages provided. Make sure to stop over and enjoy the company of your 2nd Ave family!

The Praise Band is looking for more folks to share their musical talents! Do you play piano? Drums? Another instrument? Sing? Want to use your talent to praise and participate in the worship songs on Sunday morning? Please reach out! We do ask you attend practice for several weeks to get a feel and that you attend church regularly. Contact the church office for more information.

August 5 is our indoor yard sale and vendor event. Must register and pay $20 in the church office by Thursday, July 27 at 1:00 pm.  The event will open at 7:00 am for set up and will open to the public at 8:00 am.

Next Saturday, July 22 is our Spaghetti Dinner. Tickets are available for purchase from Ron this Sunday. Prices are $5/kids under 12, $10 12 and up. All proceeds benefit the Next Chapter fund here at the church.

This is the big week! VBS blasts off tonight! All kids age 4 through entering 5th grade are welcome Monday – Friday 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm for a week of out OUT OF THIS WORLD fun and faith! There will be fun lessons, crafts, games, snacks, songs and more!  

*please note, due to VBS, no other evening activities will be going on here at 2nd Ave this week*

If you were at church yesterday, you are aware the elevator is not currently working. They are coming to look at it today, so Jill will keep you posted when it’s back up and running. (Please check Facebook, otherwise the update will be in the email toward the end of the week)

Join us this coming Saturday from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm for our soup & sandwich luncheon. This meal is free and all are welcome!

Rise Up Camp will be held at Highland Park July 24 – 27 (and Lakemont Park on the 28) for any kids age 4 (must be fully potty-trained) to age 12 from 9:00 -12:00 pm. Cost is $5 per child and scholarships are available. Contact Pastor Brian for more information pastor@2ndavechurch.org

VBS will run Monday-Friday this coming week from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Kids age 4 through entering 5^th grade are welcome!

Please note: Since VBS is next week, no other evening activities will be going on here at 2nd Ave. Monday night’s bible study will be held at the Edson’s house. 

The nursery is in need of volunteers for the month of August during the 10:45 service. Please contact Ashley if you can help out. (Volunteers must be 18 or older and have clearances and training) We love to be able to offer this ministry, however we may not be able to have it staffed every week in August. If you are blessed with any musical gifts, and would like to share them, please contact Chris or Jake (or the church office). Our Praise Band is looking to grow! We would love to have a drummer, pianist, guitarist, bassist or other instruments join us. We do ask you attend church regularly and attend a few Praise Band practices so Jake and Chris see where you fit in.

Today is the monthly Food Pantry day here at the church. If you plan to help, please arrive by 10:00 am to the room inside the glass doors. The pantry will open at 11:00 am for Blair County residents in need.

We invite you to join us Sunday as we continue our sermon series “Pray Without Ceasing” with this week’s message Standing in Awe.  Services at 8:15 & 10:45 am. We will celebrate Holy Communion at each service as well.

Spaghetti Dinner tickets are for sale between services (you can see me in the balcony or church office if I’m not in the balcony) and during office hours. The dinner will be held Saturday, July 22 from 4-7 pm, all proceeds benefit disaffiliation costs.  Meals cost $5 for kids under 12 and are $10 for ages 12-adult.
