August 5 is our indoor yard sale and vendor event. Must register and pay $20 in the church office by Thursday, July 27 at 1:00 pm.  The event will open at 7:00 am for set up and will open to the public at 8:00 am. 

Save the Date! We will hold a Church Wide Celebration on Sunday, August 20. We will take the Global Methodist Church membership vows, have Blessing of the Backpacks and more. All events will be held at both 8:15/10:45 services.

Next Saturday, July 22 is our Spaghetti Dinner. Tickets are available for purchase from Ron this Sunday. Prices are $5/kids under 12, $10 12 and up. All proceeds benefit the Next Chapter fund here at the church.

This is the big week! VBS blasts off tonight! All kids age 4 through entering 5th grade are welcome Monday – Friday 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm for a week of out OUT OF THIS WORLD fun and faith! There will be fun lessons, crafts, games, snacks, songs and more!  

*please note, due to VBS, no other evening activities will be going on here at 2nd Ave this week*

If you were at church yesterday, you are aware the elevator is not currently working. They are coming to look at it today, so Jill will keep you posted when it’s back up and running. (Please check Facebook, otherwise the update will be in the email toward the end of the week)

Join us this coming Saturday from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm for our soup & sandwich luncheon. This meal is free and all are welcome!

Rise Up Camp will be held at Highland Park July 24 – 27 (and Lakemont Park on the 28) for any kids age 4 (must be fully potty-trained) to age 12 from 9:00 -12:00 pm. Cost is $5 per child and scholarships are available. Contact Pastor Brian for more information pastor@2ndavechurch.org

August 5 will be our indoor yard sale (vendors welcome!) here at the church. Table rental is $20. You are responsible for set up and removal of any unsold items as well as handling your own cash. Call the church office to reserve your table (must be paid by July 29) 814-943-2072.

Jill will be away from Thursday – Monday. Any emails or phone messages after 1:00 pm on Wednesday will not be returned until Tuesday, July 18. If you took any of the stars from the VBS board to donate snacks, please bring them to church Sunday. You can give them to Ashley or place them by the VBS registration table.

VBS will run Monday-Friday this coming week from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Kids age 4 through entering 5^th grade are welcome!

Please note: Since VBS is next week, no other evening activities will be going on here at 2nd Ave. Monday night’s bible study will be held at the Edson’s house. 

The nursery is in need of volunteers for the month of August during the 10:45 service. Please contact Ashley if you can help out. (Volunteers must be 18 or older and have clearances and training) We love to be able to offer this ministry, however we may not be able to have it staffed every week in August. If you are blessed with any musical gifts, and would like to share them, please contact Chris or Jake (or the church office). Our Praise Band is looking to grow! We would love to have a drummer, pianist, guitarist, bassist or other instruments join us. We do ask you attend church regularly and attend a few Praise Band practices so Jake and Chris see where you fit in.

Today is the monthly Food Pantry day here at the church. If you plan to help, please arrive by 10:00 am to the room inside the glass doors. The pantry will open at 11:00 am for Blair County residents in need.

Spaghetti Dinner tickets are for sale between services (you can see me in the balcony or church office if I’m not in the balcony) and during office hours. The dinner will be held Saturday, July 22 from 4-7 pm, all proceeds benefit disaffiliation costs.  Meals cost $5 for kids under 12 and are $10 for ages 12-adult.

This Friday is our Food Pantry. If you would like to donate any non-perishable items, please stop by during office hours (Monday – Th 8:00 am – 1:00 pm). The pantry is open to any Blair County residents in need. It begins at 11:00 am. If you’d like to help out at the pantry, please arrive around 9:45 am to the Narnia Room (inside the glass doors).

VBS is looking for snack donations! Visit the bulletin board located next to the VBS table; taking a shooting star and return the item to Ashley on Sunday or during office hours.

Join us this Sunday at 8:15 and 10:45 for the next message in our series “Pray Without Ceasing”  Pray With Childlike Faith James 5:13-20.

We will have bagels (toasters, cream cheese and butter available), donuts, some fruit, orange and apple juice, and coffee available to make, for our Father’s Day celebration. Join us in the Gathering Place from 9:15 am – 10:30 am. All are welcome! 

Sunday is the last day to turn in blueberry orders and pay for orders you may have placed online. Order forms are available here at the church. 

Next Saturday we will host a Pancake Breakfast benefitting Ben Blessed and the 2nd Ave Food Pantry. Join us from 7:00 am – 9:30 am!  Kids under 12/$5, 12-adult/$8

VBS is going to be here in just a few weeks! Ashley is still in need of 26, $10 sponsors to be able to provide a t-shirt to each child. Envelopes are available at the church or you can place your sponsorship in any envelope and just make sure to write “VBS t-shirt” on it

2nd Ave Spray Park Night will be Thursday, July 6 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Juniata Memorial Spray Park.  Admission is free for 2nd Ave families!

Join us!Rise Up Camp will be held July 24 – July 28 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at Highland Park. Kids age 4 (must be potty trained) to age 12 welcome! Camp is just $5 and scholarships are available. Please see Pastor Brian for more information.

Saturday is our monthly free luncheon.  Dine in or take out from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm.

Next Sunday, we will celebrate all the fathers here at 2nd Ave between services from 9:15 am – 10:30 am with pastries and beverages in the Gathering Place. All are welcome (not just the dads)!

VBS is a month away! All kids age 4 through entering 5th grade this fall are welcome July 10 – July 14 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm for an “Out of this world” time!
